Managing employees who have made a workers’ compensation claim can present a raft of challenges for employers. This is especially so where there are ongoing employee relationship issues. When an insurer becomes involved, there are often differences that arise between the employer and insurer about how to manage the employee’s claim. Some the differences and challenges that arise include:
- the decision on liability
- control of the claim, and the different roles of the stakeholders
- relationship management with the employee
- effective communication between the parties
- case management and document/evidence creation and control
