Emma Maconick
Emma Maconick leads the Data, Digital and Technology Law practice at EY Law in Oceania, with over 20 years of international experience assisting major technology clients engaged in data and innovation intensive activities. Emma is a trusted advisor to the world’s biggest consumer platform operators, hyper-growth companies, venture funds, financial institutions, big data and analytics providers, cloud and edge computing operators, “everything as a service” businesses, developers, users and policy makers on AI/ML, advanced virtual and augmented reality, autonomous mobility manufacturers, hardware and software developers and investors in all these spaces. Emma also advises transactional clients with M&A, PE and VC investments, business transformations, capital markets and corporate transactions. In that context, she focuses on IP transactions, IT procurement, data protection, privacy and cybersecurity issues, including diligence and risk allocation, cyber incident response management, leveraging data as an asset and complex/global IP strategy work. Emma is known for providing pragmatic solutions, right-sizing risk and driving value for her clients, advising boards, management teams and operators a broad range of mission-critical matters. Emma is a thought-leader who often speaks, writes and comments on technology, AI and data innovation as an industry, a product and a mind-set.
Kristin Wilson
Kristin specialises in media and consumer law with expertise in advertising, privacy and intellectual property. Kristin is an experienced litigator with particular expertise in advertising, food law, privacy (including cyber security), media law and intellectual property. She prides herself on providing pragmatic, commercial and timely advice to clients. She regularly provides legal advice to clients as to how to best comply with the Fair Trading Act, Gambling Act, Privacy Act and Advertising Standards Authority codes. She is experienced in vetting advertisements and promotions, drafting terms and conditions, and responding to Advertising Standards Authority complaints. She advises on a wide range of food law issues, including marketing, export and import requirements, and regulatory compliance including advising on the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) Code, the Food Act, the Wine Act and related regulations and industry codes. She regularly assists clients with product formulation and labelling queries, advertising and marketing considerations and contractual issues including licensing and complex distribution agreements. She has represented media interests in the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal, and regularly provides advice and representation regarding name suppression and media access to the courts. Kristin is also very experienced in advising national and international clients on privacy law and data protection issues. In addition, Kristin provides general advice on commercial and contractual disputes and litigation with successful outcomes for her clients.
Anchali Anandanayagam
Anchali helps businesses with technology, media, and telecommunications transactions. From capacity and dark fibre procurement, data protection, technology implementation to content production, Anchali advises public and private customers and their suppliers alike on technology, media and telecommunications products and services. Adrian van Hest
Adrian van Hest is an Asia Pacific Partner and EY’s Global Incident Response Solution Lead, with 30 years of cybersecurity, international business and Digital experience. He has deep expertise across the entire cyber security ecosystem and has led everything from strategy and transformation, through to delivery and high-profile incident response. At EY Adrian is focussed on large scale Cyber transformation, our Microsoft and CrowdStrike alliances, and managed services related to security operations including data protection, threat detection and incident response. Prior to joining EY, Adrian was the National Cyber Leader for PwC and also led PwC’s Global Threat and Vulnerability Management Centre of Excellence. Adrian is passionate about improving cyber security in New Zealand. He was a founder and board member of the award winning NZITF, is a perennial iSANZ Awards judge and has been appointed by successive governments to the NZ CERT Enablement board.
