On 5 April New Zealand's new prohibition on Misuse of Market Power takes effect. Andy discusses impacts of the law change including:
- broader application of the new prohibition: who it captures and when it "bites"

- danger area, eg (implied) refusals to supply, access pricing, enforcing IP rights, limit pricing/predation, bundling…

Dermot Ross
Dermot Ross is currently in sole practice as a corporate and finance lawyer in Auckland. Until 2013 he was a partner in the Banking and Financing Team at Chapman Tripp for 13 years and before then he was a partner at Buddle Findlay. In recent times Dermot's practice has expanded to a relatively broad corporate and commercial practice, but with a strong emphasis on financing matters.
Richard May
Richard represents and advises clients on a broad range of public and commercial law issues. His clients include both public and private sector entities. Richard has particular expertise in company and insolvency disputes, regulatory enforcement, competition law, and judicial review proceedings. Before joining Luke Cunningham Clere Richard worked for a major international law firm in Perth and Melbourne, having begun his career at a large New Zealand firm. In 2010 he was awarded a Pegasus Scholarship to work with barristers at leading commercial chambers in London.
Andy Matthews
Andy Matthews has 25 years' competition law experience, including international experience with Allen & Overy (London / Moscow). He is consistently recognised internationally as a leading lawyer in his specialties in the main directories. This includes Chambers Asia-Pacific, where he has been rated Band 1- Competition since 2006. Andy was previously a senior partner at a leading trans-Tasman law firm, where he led the NZ Competition & Regulatory and TMT teams, and had also headed the Auckland Corporate division.
