Dr Amanda Bean
After years of scientific research culminating in a PhD in Biomedical Science at the University of Waikato, Amanda embarked on a legal career with the aim of specialising in the use of scientific evidence in criminal trials, including physics, chemistry and biology. Amanda works alongside Charles to ensure clients have the best representation on cases involving forensic evidence. She is categorised with legal aid to run both Judge alone and Jury trials, and can represent prisoners at the Parole board.
Danielle Beston
Danielle Beston is a Barrister Sole who holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Philosophy from the University of Auckland. She is a member of the New Zealand Law Society, The Auckland District Law Society and the Criminal Bar Association. Danielle has presented at seminars held by the Continuing Legal Education Division of the New Zealand Law Society, the University of Auckland Alumni Network, the New Zealand Association for Migration and Investment and Legalwise Seminars. With over 20 years’ experience as a defence lawyer, Danielle has a special interest in traffic and transportation law. She has represented clients in a wide range of different industries throughout New Zealand in relation to Police Prosecutions and New Zealand Transport Agency investigations. She has also been a contributor to the New Zealand Trucking Magazine’s “Legal Lines” column since 2006.
Allan Tobeck
Allan Tobeck was Admitted to the Bar in 1999 and has had a strong traffic practice since then. He has appeared for defendants in Courts at all levels on drink driving matters and in Courts from Kaitaia to Invercargill. He regularly appears as defence Counsel for defendants charged with drink driving offences and also assists other defence Counsel doing the same. Whilst currently based in Southland he regularly appears in Courts nationally and maintains a strong interest in drink driving defences.
Samira Taghavi
Sami holds a Masters degree in Criminal Law from the University of Auckland, criminal defence work having been her ambition since childhood, growing up with a father who was a criminal defence lawyer and later a judge. Sami’s tremendous work ethic, gift for strategy and computer-like memory mean that her clients’ best interests are constantly being carefully supervised. While employed as a barrister working under Patrick, Sami’s successes also span other levels of the criminal justice system. For instance, Sami has been triumphant in fighting intended restrictions on individual rights and freedoms within the criminal court system. Her tenacity in lobbying against government proposals earned her the nickname “Bulldog” from a former government minister. She is a member of the Auckland District Law Society and the New Zealand Law Society.
