Laura Scampion
Laura Scampion's more than 20 years' experience in employment and health & safety law spans both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She's appeared before various courts and tribunals in both countries, acting for some of New Zealand's, and the world's, largest companies. Laura specialises in multijurisdictional matters for employers based across the globe. As well as cross border expertise in transactional employment work, Laura regularly advises on performance, misconduct, restructuring/re-organisations, whistleblowing, discrimination and labour inspector/compliance issues. Laura heads up the national employment team at DLA Piper. She also leads DLA Piper New Zealand’s Diversity & Inclusion initiative, sits on the firm’s APAC Regional Advisory Committee, and the board of the firm’s Global Scholarship Programme.
Anton Blijlevens
Anton joined AJ Park in 1994 after graduating from the University of Canterbury with a Masters degree in mechanical engineering. He gained his law degree from The University of Auckland in 2004. Experienced in IP protection strategies and conducting IP audits for mechanical and manufacturing technology firms, Anton has a track record of helping exporters be successful locally and internationally. As head of AJ Park’s specialist China team, Anton provides IP strategy advice to Australian and New Zealand companies looking to do business in or with China. His clients come from diverse industries such as packaging, marine engineering, aviation, agritech, and heavy engineering. Anton has worked at AJ Park for over 26 years and has received many industry awards. Anton is a staff lecture at the University of Auckland and guest lecturer at AUT and Massey University, speaks on IP at international conferences and events across Asia and lectures in patent drafting for the United Nations in developing countries 2-3 times a year.
Scott Worthy
Scott Worthy was appointed partner in July 2021. He has broad experience advising on the full range of workplace and employment issues. His practice frequently involves advice on restructuring and redundancy, managing employee performance, privacy and health and safety. He regularly represents clients in mediations and has appeared before the Employment Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
Jessie Lapthorne
Jessie is a partner in Duncan Cotterill’s Auckland employment and health and safety team. She is also the Auckland representative on the Duncan Cotterill Board. Jessie started as a graduate with Duncan Cotterill in 2004. After six years in London, Jessie returned to the firm in 2013 and was made a Partner in 2016. Since being made a Partner, Jessie has led the Graduate Recruitment programme at Duncan Cotterill, and until recently, Jessie also chaired the People and Culture committee within the firm. Jessie is passionate about wellbeing, diversity and inclusion and is focussed on driving the firm’s strategies around these key areas.
Kathryn Cross
One of New Zealand’s most experienced executive search professionals, Kathryn is an accomplished executive recruiter, career coach and business advisor. Having commenced her career as a commercial and property lawyer, Kathryn has over 20 years legal recruitment expertise and held senior leadership roles for market leaders within the recruitment and executive search industry. She has appointed Partners to a wide variety of law firm partnerships throughout New Zealand. She offers excellent insights and know-how supporting lawyers to career success. Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Music (Voice) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Auckland, and a Post Graduate diploma in Human Resources (Monash).
