Bridie McKinnon, Special Counsel, Buddle Findlay
Bridie McKinnon specialises in a broad range of litigation matters with a particular focus on insolvency law. She has experience in all areas of dispute resolution, including court room advocacy, mediation and arbitration. Bridie offers pragmatic and tailored advice on all aspects of litigation strategy and has appeared in the New Zealand Court of Appeal, High Court and District Court as both sole and junior counsel. Bridie has a particular interest in solvency and the agricultural sector, and has contributed to external workshops teaching mediation skills, in readiness for the Farm Debt Mediation Act 2019. She has also authored a Practical Guide on the topic for Thomson Reuters. Bridie’s recent highlights include working on the complex and novel legal issues involved in the liquidation of insurance company CBL Insurance Limited (Reserve Bank of New Zealand v CBL Iinsurance Ltd (NO 3) [2018] NZHC 2969, and the liquidation of Cryptocurrency exchange, Cryptopia (Ruscoe & Moore v Cryptopia Limited (in liquidation) [2020] NZHC 718.)
