Graeme Todd, Principal, TODD & WALKER Law; Notary Public
Graeme has been a trusted legal adviser in the Queenstown Lakes region for four decades. He works with private and corporate entities, local, national and overseas resident and multinational corporations. Graeme has considerable experience in several specialist areas, including advising on the acquisition of large farms and other significant commercial and property transactions and developments. He also advises on applications and proceedings under the Overseas Investment Act . Graeme is also a senior member of the Resource Management Law bar and regularly appears before the Environment and High Courts . Raised in Invercargill, Graeme has practised law since 1981. In 2009, Graeme was appointed a Notary Public. He founded what is now TODD & WALKER Law which in 2019 was identified by LawFuel as one of New Zealand’s 6 emerging law firms.
Alana Crampton, Partner, Tavendale and Partners
From a dairying background, Alana is well equipped when advising families and businesses around the complexities of rural and commercial acquisitions and sales, leasing and financing. She has strong expertise in succession planning and asset protection under New Zealand’s relationship property laws. Alana has strong relationships and connections right across the Canterbury region.
Richard Parkes, Partner, Cavell Leitch
Richard Parkes is a partner in our property team. He specialises in all aspects of property law work whether it be rural, residential or commercial property. He has become a leading legal expert in Agribusiness matters and regularly presents at rural professionals seminars and conferences throughout New Zealand. He acts for many rural companies and farmers throughout the South Island assisting them with sales and purchases, rural leasing, trust and company restructurings and equity partnerships, especially in the grazing and dairy sectors. Richard also has a particular interest in assisting farming families with farm succession plans and asset protection structures. He has considerable expertise in high country farming matters including tenure review and pastoral leases. Richard’s strong links to the agricultural sector are shown through his position as President of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association in 2014/2015. As a past President, he continues to be a member of the General Committee. He was also a past member of the high country tenure review consultants committee.
Ezekiel Hudspith, Special Counsel, Dentons Kensington Swan
Ezekiel is a Special Counsel in the environment and planning team at Dentons Kensington Swan. He specialises in, and advises clients on, all aspects of the Resource Management Act and related legislation, helping them obtain resource consents and designations, and make submissions on changes to district and regional plans. He also helps clients to comply with their environmental requirements under the Resource Management Act (RMA) and other acts, and assists them when they face potential prosecution for breaching their authorisations. Ezekiel advises government and local government agencies carrying out large infrastructure projects. He has also acted for private companies seeking planning authorisations, and on a number of regional plan change processes relating to water allocation. He works closely with project managers, planning managers and environment managers and he has appeared at council hearings, Boards of Inquiry, the Environment Court and the High Court.
Robbie Bryant, Senior Associate, Aspiring Law
Robbie relocated to Wanaka in 2020, bringing with him more than 10 years’ specialist experience in the Employment Law/HR sector. Before joining Aspiring Law, Robbie honed his skills and expertise at two leading boutique employment law firms where he advised clients on the full suite of employment law and human resource issues. Robbie thrives on securing pragmatic solutions to complicated problems. If matters become more contentious, he also has a lot of experience in mediation, appearing before the Employment Relations Authority, and the Employment Court. He also has appeared before the Court of Appeal, High Court, the Human Rights Commission, and the ACC Review Tribunal. On the business side, Robbie also has experience undertaking HR audits, and providing in-house training for clients on a variety of matters.
