Elise Markwick is a partner in the commercial property department at Martelli McKegg, Lawyers in Auckland. Elise advises investors and developers on the acquisition, development, associated financing, leasing and sale of commercial property. Elise obtained her B.A. LL.B from Auckland University and was admitted to the Bar in 1985.
Andrea Watson, Consulting Solicitor, LINZ – Landonline
Andrea Watson is the Consulting Solicitor for the Landonline rebuild at Land Information New Zealand. She is tasked with engaging with Landonline users and other stakeholders to inform the rebuild and identify opportunities to align with the current and future needs of New Zealand’s property sector. Andrea previously worked at LINZ in the legal and quality assurance teams handling titles dealings. In private practice she has worked in boutique, mid-sized and large New Zealand law firms. Andrea spent the majority of her career as a senior property solicitor at Chapman Tripp where she specialised in registration matters from single property transactions through to infrastructure projects and large unit titles and subdivisions.
Bobbie-jo Butler, Director/Conveyancing Practitioner, Conveyancing Plus
Bobbie-jo Butler is a property law specialist with over 20 years’ experience in various legal and financial organisations. Upon graduating with the NZ Diploma in Conveyancing, she began her own practice in 2011 and is the sole director of Conveyancing Plus. The firm has an expansive client base assisting individuals and families from first home to rest home, and representing investors, developers, and builders in all aspects of residential and commercial property transactions. Bobbie-jo supports her clients to reach the best outcome by taking a practical, solution-based approach, whilst keeping abreast of the constant changes in legislation affecting land ownership.
Carla Cross, Senior Associate, Bellingham Wallace Accountancy
Carla is a Senior Associate in Bellingham Wallace’s tax practice. Carla is a tax and trust law specialist. She advises clients in relation to their business tax planning, as well as their personal asset planning. Before joining Bellingham Wallace in 2017, Carla was the business unit lead for Private Client Services in New Zealand with EY, where she advised high net worth individuals and managed their tax and trust affairs. Prior to this Carla held various tax advisory and legal roles. Carla has a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and Bachelor of Procurationis from the University of Port Elizabeth as well as a Masters in Taxation Studies from the University of Auckland. She has been admitted to the Bar in New Zealand and South Africa, is a full member of the global Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and a member of the CAANZ Special Interest Group for Trusts.
Royden McGee, Partner, AML Partners
Royden McGee is a partner and specialist AML/CFT consultant with AML Partners, where he provides specialist advice, training and audit services to AML/CFT reporting entities and business associations. Prior to moving into the world of AML 2 years ago, Royden completed a 30-year career with Inland Revenue which included 16 years leading teams investigating Tax and financial crime including fraud and money laundering. It was during this period, that he was also part of a team that trained police detectives and other NZ government agencies from NZ, Australia and the pacific islands on a week-long ‘Investigating money laundering’ course held twice a year at the police college in Wellington. The sum of Royden’s experience gives him a unique perspective with being involved in both reporting entity AML/CFT compliance and the investigation of money laundering offences.
