Raphael Hilbron, Managing Partner, SenateSHJ
Raphael is Managing Partner of SenateSHJ New Zealand and key adviser to a range of clients including Beach Energy, CentrePort, ESR, T&G Global and Waikato Tainui. An internationally recognised communications practitioner, Raphael helps clients manage their reputations. Before joining SenateSHJ in 2008, Raphael was head of corporate responsibility at Vodafone NZ and was seconded to Vodafone Group in the UK for two years. In the early 90s, Raphael worked as a reporter on The Dominion newspaper and as a press secretary a press secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister. Raphael holds Law and Arts degrees from Victoria University of Wellington and a New Zealand Certificate in Journalism.
Bevan Miles, Partner, Chapman Tripp
As the head of Chapman Tripp’s national Tax practice, Bevan advises on a wide range of tax matters. Bevan's experience includes restructuring, international transactions and transfer pricing, significant mergers and acquisitions (M&A), financing and capital raising transactions, tax disputes and tax risk management. His extensive financial services sector experience sees him regularly advising financial services businesses on tax rules applicable to banking, insurance and investments/funds management (including PIE rules). Prior to working at Chapman Tripp, Bevan was with ASB Bank where he had overall responsibility for the tax affairs of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia's New Zealand group, including ASB and Sovereign Life Assurance. This, combined with his experience in private practice, means Bevan is uniquely placed to understand clients' tax requirements. Bevan is recognised as a leading lawyer by Chambers Asia Pacific 2020.
