Steph Dyhrberg, Partner, Dyhrberg Drayton Employment Law
Steph Dyhrberg is a partner at Dyhrberg Drayton Employment Law, a specialist employment law practice in Wellington. Steph has nearly 30 years legal experience. Prior to joining forces with Johanna, Steph practised as a sole practitioner for 6 years. Steph previously worked for Russell McVeagh Wellington, Crown Law Office, and Right Management Consultants. Steph is recognised as a highly effective senior employment advisor and advocate. She has developed a specialist expertise in undertaking independent investigations and reviews. Steph is the New Zealand Rugby Independent Complaints Service Manager and now provides a similar service for High Performance Sport (Sport NZ). Steph was a finalist in the 2018 Women of Influence Awards in the Diversity category, and in December was awarded 2018 Wellingtonian of the Year for her work in tackling sexual harassment in the legal profession. Steph is immediate past Convenor of the Wellington Women Lawyers' Association.
Claire Paterson, Partner, Meredith Connell
Claire prosecutes serious crime in District Court and High Court jury trials, as well as regulatory offending in the District Court on behalf of agencies including the Real Estate Authority, Maritime New Zealand, Commerce Commission, New Zealand Transport Agency, and Housing New Zealand. Claire has particular expertise acting in professional disciplinary proceedings. She regularly acts for the New Zealand Law Society in prosecutions before the Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal, and on behalf of the Real Estate Authority in proceedings before the Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal. In the civil jurisdiction, Claire has acted for plaintiffs and defendants in proceedings before the District Court and High Court. She has considerable experience acting for Crown entities in specialist tribunals including the Human Rights Review Tribunal, Tenancy Tribunal, and Customs Appeals Authority.
Sam Hood, Managing Partner, Norris Ward McKinnon
Sam specialises in civil litigation and employment law. Sam has appeared as lead Counsel in successful proceedings before the High Court and Court of Appeal of New Zealand and also the High Court and Court of Appeal of the Cook Islands. Sam speaks fluent Japanese and is a past member of a Standards Committee. Sam’s specialist areas include the following: contract and negligence disputes, claims involving restraints of trade and protection of confidential information, negotiation, mediation and Court work, personal grievances and other employment disputes and professional disciplinary and ethical issues involving solicitors and other professions.
