Richard Brooks
Richard Brooks is a consultant in Ashurst's real estate practice. Richard has a broad real estate practice, including acting for REITs and other institutional property owners, developers and corporate and government real estate occupiers, and acting on real estate aspects of M&A, infrastructure and energy and resources projects. Richard is experienced in acting on commercial property leasing (for landlords and tenants), sale and lease backs, real estate investment and real estate development. Richard is listed in Best Lawyers Australia 2024 in Real Property Law, Leasing Law and Government Practice.
Michael Stannard
Michael is a Partner in our property team and has over ten years’ experience in commercial property law. His practice focuses on the following areas: acquisitions and disposals of commercial, industrial, residential and agricultural properties, commercial, industrial and retail leasing, property development and construction projects, property due diligence general property matters. Michael regularly acts for vendors, purchasers, landlords, tenants, property developers and investors in a wide range of matters. He works closely with his clients to help achieve their commercial objectives and is valued for his timely, commercial and pragmatic advice. An active member of the property industry, Michael sits on the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s Urban Renewal and Liveability Committee. He previously sat on the Law Society of South Australia’s Property Committee and Urban Development Institute of Australia’s Developer Finance, Tax and Regulation Committee. He also regularly presents seminars to clients, professional services firms and industry groups on a range of topics in property law. Jack Cyngler
Jack Cyngler established the firm Cyngler & Co in 1987, and in 2004 merged with Kaye Levy & Co rebranding as Cyngler Kaye Levy. The firm is now known as CKL Lawyers. Jack was first recognised as a specialist in Commercial Tenancy Law in 2001, and has maintained his authority in the area ever since. Jack is a member of the LIV’s Leases Committee, an industry body committee that makes submissions to the government in the field of Commercial Tenancy Law. Joeseph Grassi
Joseph was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 1977. After completing his Articles of Clerkship with Messrs. Gordon L. Beard & McDonald, Solicitors in Sydney, Joseph continued to work for that firm until Christmas 1978. In January 1979, Joseph commenced employment with A.S. Lamrock & Son as it was known then as an employed solicitor and became a partner on 1st July 1980. Joseph was the head of the Property, Commercial & Revenue Law Division. Joseph’s area of practice is in domestic, commercial, and industrial conveyancing and development, commercial leasing and Land & Environment, commercial, business, health and tax law. Joseph provides legal advice to private and corporate clients in relation to residential, commercial, and industrial subdivisions and strata developments and issues relating to environmental planning and assessment, joint ventures and financial structures of developments. He also advises his clients in asset protection strategies including Estate Planning and Administration. Penrith is home for Joseph and his family, and he has a keen interest in the area and a desire to see it prosper. Joseph was a member of the Sydney West Area Health Service Research and Ethics Committee, a member of the AustLaw executive, a Director of Syd-West Personnel Pty. Limited and Vice-President of the Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce Inc. In 2011 Joseph was appointed to the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Board and he is the chair of the Finance and Performance Committee of the Local Health District. Joseph is also the Chairman of the Nepean Blue Mountains Education and Medical Research Foundation Limited which is a charity established to provide fundraising services to the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District in particular in the areas of education and research. The Foundation’s major initial fundraising effort is to assist with funding the construction and establishment of a purpose-built research institute in the grounds of the Nepean Hospital, Penrith. Joseph is an Accredited Specialist in Property Law and has been since 1995. Specialist Accreditation is a structured peer to peer assessment process enabling legal practitioners to be recognised for their expertise. To be accredited, specialists must pass a series of meticulous assessments on both legal knowledge and its application in practice. In an effort to further increase his skills, Joseph completed a Master of Laws degree at the University of Western Sydney in 2000.
