Alice Spizzo
Alice Spizzo specialises in Planning & Environmental Law. Alice has extensive experience in government and the development industry as a lawyer, executive and senior ministerial advisor including Chief-of-Staff and Executive Director responsible for policy and legislative reform. Alice Chairs the NSW Women’s Housing Company, a Community Housing Provider of housing and homelessness services for women. Alice is a Board Director of the Homes Tasmania Authority established by the Tasmanian Government to provide and manage housing in Tasmania and the Metropolitan Memorial Parks in NSW, responsible for the management of several cemeteries in NSW. She is also a NSW Government member of the Sydney East Regional Planning Panel.
Breellen Warry
Breellen Warry is a Partner within the Public Law team at Maddocks. Breellen advises both private and public sector clients across various industries on a wide range of planning, environment and government matters. Breellen also has extensive experience advising NSW State government and local councils on planning and environmental law and has worked both within and for government agencies in NSW and in the UK. Breellen has also lectured at Western Sydney University, teaching planning and environmental law and has authored Thomson Reuters' Planning and Development Law Service. Breellen has been recognised in the Doyle's Guide as a Leading Planning & Development Lawyer – New South Wales since 2020 and in the 2021 and 2022 Editions of Best Lawyers for Planning and Environmental Law.
Kristyn Glanville
Kristyn is part of the planning and environment team. She acts in matters including planning appeals and enforcement of environmental offences. She has experience in the Land and Environment Court, Local Court, Supreme Court, and NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Kristyn has previously worked for over 5 years at international law firms, including advising proponents and construction companies on major infrastructure projects, advising a range of clients on planning and environment litigation and regulatory investigations, obtaining planning approvals and environmental licences, and due diligence on planning and environment matters. In 2019 and in 2020, Kristyn was a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly “30 Under 30” Awards in the Planning and Environment category, and in 2019 was recognised by Lexology as the Q4 Legal Influencer for Infrastructure – Australia. Experience includes: Acting in the Land and Environment Court on behalf of both proponents and Councils in relation to merits appeals and judicial review under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Local Government Act 1993; Acting in the Land and Environment Court on behalf of landowners appealing compensation under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991; Acting in the Land and Environment Court in relation to prosecution matters, including under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974; Negotiated the first enforceable undertaking entered into under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979; Advising holders of Environment Protection Licences concerning licensing issues, pollution incident response, environmental risk management, and regulatory investigations under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997; Advising in relation to management of contamination issues and obligations to notify under the Contaminated Land Management Act 1997.
Peter Holt
Peter Holt Peter is a special counsel in Holding Redlich’s planning and environment team. Peter is recognised as an Accredited Specialist in Planning and Local Government law by the Law Society of NSW. Peter is a highly respected and influential thought leader on environmental, planning and building matters in New South Wales. Peter regularly acts for private developers, accredited certifiers, councils and NSW State government agencies. Peter has over ten years’ experience working on policy development and the implementation of innovative legislative reform initiatives. This includes being responsible for the policy and legal framework behind the New South Wales Government’s ePlanning program; overseeing the expansion of the BASIX certification scheme; and the preparation of parts of the Planning Bill 2013 relating to development contributions and building and subdivision.
Michael Mantei
Michael Mantei is a qualified town planner, practicing lawyer and accredited specialist in Local Government and Planning Law. Michael sits on the Law Society advisory committee for specialist accreditation in planning and environment law. He is the immediate past chairperson on the Liverpool City Council local panning panel and alternate chair on the Camden Council local planning panels. Michael is partner planning, environment and government law at Madison Marcus Law Firm, having joined the Firm in March 2022 after 12 years as the sole director and lawyer of specialist planning law practice Planning Law Solutions. Michael started his professional career as a town planner at various Local Government Authorities in Metropolitan and Regional NSW. After 10 years of service to Local Government, Michael commenced his career in the law where he has practiced for the last 23 years.
