Johanne Thomas
Johanne specialises in stamp duty, payroll tax and land tax. She joined Deloitte in 2016 following 20 years of experience working as a tax lawyer with a boutique tax law firm in Perth. Johanne has been extensively involved in assisting clients in relation to the stamp duty implications of a wide range of commercial transactions across all Australian States and Territories. In particular, Johanne’s experience covers transactions involving landholding entities, trusts and corporate reconstructions. She has extensive experience in managing State Revenue audits and objecting against State tax assessments. Johanne is admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. Johanne is a Chartered Tax Adviser, a current member of the Tax Institute’s WA State Taxes Committee and a former member of the Tax Institute’s WA Education Committee.
Daniel Taborsky
Daniel Taborsky, CTA, is a director of Birchstone Tax law specialising in resolving tax disputes for high net worth individuals and private groups. Daniel advises on complex tax matters (with a particular interest in Division 7A), asset protection and estate/succession planning strategies and philanthropic ventures. Daniel works closely with family lawyers in complex financial matters. Daniel also advises not-for-profit entities, including charities, on structuring and tax issues.
Gaurav Chitnis
Gaurav commenced his career in taxation in 2006. Since then, he has worked for a national accounting firm and a boutique taxation practice before joining MKT as a Tax Principal in 2019. Gaurav is a CPA, CTA and a lawyer admitted to the Supreme Court. Gaurav specialises in capital gains tax, business restructures, taxation of trusts and Division 7A. Gaurav holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University majoring in accounting and finance and Juris Doctor from The University of Western Australia. He is a CPD Committee member of The Taxation Institute and is a director of the Norwegian Australian Chamber of Commerce. He is a regular presenter at external tax forums and is a guest lecturer at Curtin University.
Dr Michael Robson
Michael has extensive knowledge and experience in tax and commercial litigation, including Commonwealth and State taxes and duties, corporations law, trusts and corporate insolvency matters. Michael has a doctoral degree from Monash University and he was a recipient of the Attorney-General’s Medal awarded by Charles Darwin University. He is a barrister and solicitor admitted in Western Australia since 2011. Robson Legal has been recommended as a tax law firm in 2019, 2021 and 2022 by Doyles Guide. Michael has previously served as the non-executive Chairman and Director of 4 publicly listed companies. Michael was formerly a director of the Jaye Radisich Foundation, a charity with the principal purpose of funding cancer research. Michael is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia.
