Nicholas Simpson
Nicholas Simpson is a barrister who practises from 13th Floor St James Hall Chambers. He is the author of The Law of Bankruptcy Notices and Creditors’ Petitions (2020) published by Lexis Nexis. Nicholas previously worked as a commercial litigation solicitor in corporate insolvency, bankruptcy, real property, technology and construction disputes. Before commencing practice as a solicitor, Nicholas was the Common Law Researcher to the Supreme Court of New South Wales. In addition to his practice, Nicholas has lectured and tutored at the University of Sydney in Civil Procedure and tutored at the Australian Catholic University. He regularly gives lectures on all aspects of commercial law to Legalwise and the College of Law, Sydney.
Andre Lakomy
Andre Lakomy is a restructuring and advisory partner at Cor Cordis. He has over 15 years' experience delivering informal advice to directors, shareholders and financiers. Andre's expertise includes: undertaking business reviews of underperforming companies for directors and shareholders; identifying strategic options to improve a company's performance; assessing working capital requirements; and assessing funding options. Andre also has experience assisting with formal insolvencies including receiverships, administrations and liquidations. Andre is actively involved in developing the Cor Cordis Advisory Club in NSW, which is a non-competitive support service for a member network of accountants, lawyers and professional advisers. Cor Cordis Advisory Club events provides a great forum for members to hear topical presentations and meet other like-minded professionals.
Patrick Gallego
Patrick is an expert strategist who readily understands the commercial drivers in legal disputes helping him to rapidly yield favourable results for clients. Patrick was recognised by Doyle’s Guide as a Rising Star in Commercial Litigation & Insolvency Law in 2022. Patrick stands out for his deep knowledge of litigation and insolvency law and tactical mindset. Patrick has experience in representing claimants and defendants in various courts and tribunals across Australia including in the Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, state Supreme Courts, District Court and Local Court, and administrative tribunals.
Stacy Miller
Stacy Miller has practiced exclusively in the areas of commercial litigation, insolvency, debt recovery and dispute resolution since her commencement of practice in Queensland in 2003. She has been a partner of the Gold Coast based specialist commercial litigation and insolvency firm, Cronin Miller Litigation, since 2014. Prior to private practice, her interest in insolvency was sparked during her tenure as a legal officer at the Federal Attorney General’s department in a small team put together specifically to provide assistance to those appearing before the Royal Commission into the collapse of HIH Insurance. Subsequently she practiced in specialist commercial litigation and insolvency firms in Brisbane, before joining the team at Cronin Litigation Lawyers (as it then was) in 2011. A highly regarded litigator with notable success in factually complex high end litigation cases, her expertise includes trade practices actions, contractual disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, estate litigation, realising and enforcing securities and general commercial disputes for direct industry clients and professional firms such as accountants and liquidators.
