Diana Perla
After graduating with a BA and an LLB at the University of Sydney in 1982, Diana Perla was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and admitted to the Israeli Bar in 1985. She speaks English, Hebrew (Ivrit) and Yiddish. Diana has been an accredited specialist in Family Law since 1994. In 2019, Diana attained qualification as a Notary Public. Diana is highly qualified and experienced in many areas of family law, including, complex financial matters, parenting matters and same-sex couple parenting matters. She also represents clients in the Supreme Court in relation to family provision claims. Diana has been involved with the Eastern Suburbs Family Law Group for many years as an active member and as Chairperson. She is also frequently called upon to present papers at Family Law Seminars to provide continuing education lectures to other lawyers.
Justin Brown
Justin has been listed since 2017 in the Doyle’s Guide as Recommended Junior Counsel in the area of Leading Wills & Estates Litigation Junior Counsel. He is recognised for the depth and breadth of his advocacy skills, understanding of complex legal issues and strategic thinking. Justin is also a lecturer in succession law at the University of Sydney and has been a guest lecturer in the courses offered by the College of Law in the Master of Applied Law (Wills and Estates). He regularly appears for executors, trustees and beneficiaries of deceased estates at both trial and appellate level, primarily in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, as well as in the High Court in Nobarani v Mariconte [2018] HCA 36. Justin possesses considerable advocacy experience and provides sound legal advice in both contentious and non-contentious matters. He has completed LEADR’s Mediator’s Course and regularly appears as counsel for clients at mediations. Justin holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Sydney and a Masters of Applied Laws specialising in wills and estate. Prior to being called to the Bar in 2013, Justin practised as a solicitor and was instructed in several leading cases in wills and estate litigation.
Angela Djukanovic
Angela was called to the Bar in 2019 after previously holding senior executive corporate and commercial roles. She practises primarily in Succession litigation, including family provision matters. In addition to her legal qualifications, Angela holds a Master of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney. Supplemented by her broad academic qualifications, Angela’s corporate background assists her to approach litigation and dispute resolution from a practical commercial basis and in a pragmatic way.
Rachel Dart
Rachel Dart is a barrister with Culwulla Chambers, she works in family law and related matters in State and Federal Courts, Succession Law and Adoption.
Elizabeth Rusiti
Elizabeth Rusiti was a solicitor for 20 years before coming to the Bar. During the first half of her career, she worked for a mid-tier Sydney firm in commercial litigation, specialising in admiralty, shipping and international trade disputes. Subsequently, Elizabeth gained considerable experience at boutique family law firms, developing a reputation as a senior practitioner in that field, representing clients in all aspects of family law disputes. Her focus in family law matters is on assisting clients to resolve their disputes, wherever possible. After a break from legal practice, Elizabeth came to the Bar in 2020. During her first few years at the Bar, as well as accepting Briefs in family law matters and contract disputes, Elizabeth has been junior Counsel in Supreme and Federal Court disputes between customers and their banks, as well as in recent Supreme Court proceedings challenging the validity of the NSW Public Health Orders.
Margaret Pringle
Margaret Pringle was admitted as a solicitor in February 2001, having previously qualified and worked as a registered nurse. She was employed by the former Public Trustee (now NSW Trustee & Guardian) specialising in Equity litigation involving deceased estates. In 2007 Margaret was awarded a Master of Jurisprudence (USyd). Margaret was called to the NSW Bar in May 2010 and practices primarily in the Equity jurisdiction of the Supreme Court in matters relating to the estates of deceased and incapable persons. She is a member of Chalfont Chambers on Level 9, 67 Castlereagh Street, Sydney.
Kathryn Dent
Kathryn Dent is a Law Society Accredited Specialist in the area of Employment and Industrial Law and has practised exclusively in this area for over 25 years. She holds a Masters of Labour Law and Relations, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and a Certified Professional Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute (CAHRI). Kathryn is a current author of several chapters of the LexisNexis publication "Workplace Law" and holds several appointments including non-executive Director on the Board of The Cerebral Palsy Alliance, member of the Australian Human Resources Institute ER/IR Advisory Board and convenor of the NSW ER/IR Network for the Australian Human Resources Institute.
Geoff Baldwin
Geoff Baldwin is Special Counsel at Stacks Champion, part of the Stacks Law Group. Having originally trained and worked as a scientist, Geoff completed his law degree at the University of Sydney in the mid-1970s, where he took a particular interest in industrial law. Geoff then moved to the NSW Public Service Board, becoming Director Personnel, following which he entered the school education system, working as Director Industrial Relations and Director Personnel. Subsequently he was Director Human Resources at UWS Hawkesbury, and General Manager HR at the State Transit Authority, before leaving fulltime employment and undertaking a range of consulting and investigation work for both public and private sector clients. In 2011 he joined Champion Legal (now Stacks Champion) as Special Counsel. Geoff has extensive experience in industrial and employment law, including appearance work in State and Federal tribunals. At Stacks Champion Geoff handles a wide range of workplace and employment issues, as well as commercial advisory and contract work focusing on small to medium enterprises. Away from work, Geoff has been involved for twenty years in Rugby administration, including seven years on the Board of the Sydney Rugby Union and a stint as President of Parramatta (now Western Sydney) Two Blues. He also plays rock’n’roll in a couple of bands, as a hobby.
Gary Newton
Gary Newton is a partner in the Property and Development Group of HWL Ebsworth Lawyers. He has been practising in the area of property law since 1983, providing advice on a wide range of matters to business, government and individuals. Gary holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sydney and is an Accredited Specialist in Property Law, since 1994. Gary is a long standing member of the Property Law Committee of the Law Society of NSW. Gary is the co-author of a book published in December 2017 called "Land Acquisition" 7th edition by Gary Newton and Christopher Conolly. Gary is also the co-author of a book "Real Property Law Case Summaries" Newton’s 4th edition and the co-author and the co-editor of the LexisNexis Butterworths NSW Conveyancing Service (loose-leaf). He is also sole author and editor of the book 2020-2021 and the upcoming new edition of the ‘Annotated Conveyancing & Real Property Legislation in NSW’ expected in late 2022. Gary has been listed in the 2023 edition of Best Lawyers and Doyles Guide for Leasing Law and for Real Property Law.
Joel Parsons
Joel is a media, entertainment and technology lawyer, who supports clients in advisory and litigious matters. Joel provides advice to clients in a variety of sectors in relation to privacy related matters, and has advised on privacy policies, data transfer, cyber breach response, health privacy regulation, surveillance laws and privacy policy and reform, as well as related contentious areas such as defamation. He works across core areas of law affecting media, entertainment and technology businesses such as copyright, advertising, and restrictions on publication and media regulation. Joel was a Recommended Individual in the areas of Media & Entertainment and Dispute Resolution in Legal 500 2021 and 2022, listed as a Rising Star in Media & Entertainment in Legal 500, 2022, and listed as a Rising Star (Australia) in IP/TMT by Doyle's Guide in 2019. He has written a number of published articles in the area of media law, including an award winning essay on internet intermediary liability in 2016.
Jamie Darams
Jamie Darams is a barrister specialising in employment law and industrial relations, with particular expertise in restraints of trade. He also acts for clients in commercial law and equity and corporations law matters. This includes representing liquidators and administrators in applications under the Corporations Act, advising on contractual and commercial disputes such as shareholder disputes, and representing clients in Consumer Law and general equitable claims.
Jamie is briefed to appear in matters throughout Australia and appears led and unled in a range of courts and tribunals, both at first instance and on appeal.
Before coming to the bar in 2007, Jamie worked as a solicitor and leading commercial law firms. Between 2000 and 2005, he was a Solicitor and Senior Associate with Clayton Utz in its Workplace Relations team. Jamie then worked at Eakin McCaffery Cox as a Senior Associate in its Workplace Relations and Commercial Litigation departments.
Christopher Freeman
Christopher Freeman has an equity and commercial dispute practice and has appeared in the Federal Court of Australia and the Equity Division of the Supreme Court of New South Wales for over 25 years. He has also appeared as an advocate in numerous international arbitrations at SIAC and HKIAC. He has given expert evidence on Australian contract law in Courts in Singapore, Thailand and Japan. He is an NMAS accredited mediator.
