Diane Skapinker
Diane Skapinker is a consultant in the Ashurst real estate group where she specialises in property developments, strata and community titling, acquisitions, disposals, leasing and the property aspects of telecommunications and infrastructure projects. Diane was formerly an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Sydney lecturing in Real Property, Conveyancing and Equity and is a member of the NSW Law Society’s Property Law Committee and its subcommittee responsible for drafting the NSW standard form contract for the sale and purchase of land. Diane is recognised as a real estate lawyer by Chambers Asia-Pacific, Doyle's Guide and Best Lawyers Australia.
Margaret Hole
Joined the Registrar Generals Office in 1960 to 1982, employed from draftsman through to Examiner of Titles. Now Solicitor in private practice from1983 to date, principal of Wm Walker Taylor Edwards and Smith. Margaret became a Councillor and then President of the Law Society of NSW in 1999. She is a Board member Building Professionals Board (BPB) since 2008, Board member of Surveyors and Spatial Information (BOSSI) since 2002) and a Member of various Property Committees of the Law Society of New Society of New South Wales, Department of Fair Trading and LPI. Co-founder of the Property Law Reform Alliance PLRA. Chair 2008-2009. Continuing interest in Property Law, particularly new developments relating to Easements, Surveys, Possessory Title and the various issues arising from Real Property in relation to Probate matters.
John Sears
John Sears is passionate about property research, with nearly 30 years' experience in property and financial markets in both Australia and across the globe. In February 2016, John joined Cushman and Wakefield's Australian Research Team as National Director, Research. John's focus at Cushman is to support the business and clients with economic and market analyisis that helps to identify and exploit the important trends and themes in Australian commercial real estate. John's roles have included Head of Research at Vicinity Centres, Head of Property Research at Colonial First State Global Asset Management, Director, Global Capital Markets Research at Jones Lang LaSalle as well as 10 years in the AMP Capital Investors Investment Strategy and Economics Team.
David Bannerman
David Bannerman is the principal of Bannermans Lawyers, Sydney's leading Strata Law firm, providing specialised legal services for the strata industry. David is a qualified lawyer. He is an Accredited Property Law Specialist with the Law Society of New South Wales and has over 15 years extensive experience in all aspects of property law and building litigation.
Anthony Herro

Andrew Rider
Andrew Rider is a leading Australian tax barrister specialising in land tax, payroll tax and stamp duty litigation and dispute resolution. Andrew also advises on Australia-wide stamp duties, land tax and payroll tax. Prior to coming to the Bar, Andrew was a solicitor and Associate to Justice Michael Kirby. Andrew lectures in taxation law at the University of Sydney Law School and previously lectured at the University of Technology, Sydney. Andrew edits the leading stamp duty publication “Australian Stamp Duties Law” and authors the national stamp duty section of the leading online service “Practical Guidance – Property Law”. Andrew is a Chartered Tax Adviser and examiner with The Tax Institute and member of The Tax Institute/Office of State Revenue Liaison Committee and Dispute Resolution Technical Committee. Andrew is also a member of the NCAT Revenue List Consultative Forum.
Gary Newton
Gary Newton is a partner in the Property and Development Group of HWL Ebsworth Lawyers. He has been practising in the area of property law since 1983, providing advice on a wide range of matters to business, government and individuals. Gary holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sydney and is an Accredited Specialist in Property Law, since 1994. Gary is a long standing member of the Property Law Committee of the Law Society of NSW. Gary is the co-author of a book published in December 2017 called "Land Acquisition" 7th edition by Gary Newton and Christopher Conolly. Gary is also the co-author of a book "Real Property Law Case Summaries" Newton’s 4th edition and the co-author and the co-editor of the LexisNexis Butterworths NSW Conveyancing Service (loose-leaf). He is also sole author and editor of the book 2020-2021 and the upcoming new edition of the ‘Annotated Conveyancing & Real Property Legislation in NSW’ expected in late 2022. Gary has been listed in the 2023 edition of Best Lawyers and Doyles Guide for Leasing Law and for Real Property Law.
Michael Osborne
Michael Osborne is the principal of Osbornes Lawyers and has been in private practice for nearly 30 years. Osbornes Lawyers is a speciality legal practice focusing on commercial and business law, with particular expertise in real property. Michael is an accredited property specialist, chair of the Advisory Committee for the Law Society of New South Wales for the specialist accreditation scheme in property, a member of the Property Committee of the Law Society. Michael has extensive practical experience in most aspects of property law, including options, sales, acquisitions, strata and community title, and commercial and retail leasing.
Geoff Farland
Geoff Farland practises in the areas of property, planning and development law. He has extensive experience in development and due diligence for shopping centres, commercial and industrial property, hospitals and health projects, land/water interface projects, roads, valuation, compensation and leasing, as well as general property advice. He acts for major landlords and tenants and leads a team which provides a wide range of retail leasing services for a major institutional client, with a NSW portfolio exceeding 20 regional and sub-regional centres. His practice has particular emphasis on the pro-active resolution of planning issues which arise in the development process. Geoff has trained as a mediator, using the LEADR model.
Michelle McCartney
Michelle McCartney is director at McCartney Young Lawyers Michelle has been a Northern Rivers resident since 2003, making the transition from senior positions with large Sydney firms to bring her experience to a regional firm. Being a “Law Society Accredited Specialist” in both business law and property law means that Michelle has a wealth of experience in a wide variety of business, property and development matters.
Edwina Keynes
Edwina has a broad commercial practice with particular expertise in corporate and personal insolvency, and banking related matters. Edwina is regularly briefed to appear in the New South Wales and Victorian superior courts, both led and unled. Her appearance work has included contractual and general equity disputes, liquidations and complex winding up proceedings, mortgage and debt recovery, and banking and finance related proceedings. Prior to coming to the Bar, regularly appeared and advised in general commercial, insolvency and corporate matters including appearing in the Supreme, Federal, District and Local Courts. Ms Keynes was also the associate to the Honourable Justice Anderson of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
