John Syminton
John Syminton is a Consultant of WSR Law (formerly Warren Syminton Ralph Pty Ltd). Prior to joining the firm, John was a partner of Freehills in Perth for many years. Warren Syminton Ralph has an office in Fremantle and acts primarily on commercial property transactions. The firm currently acts for a number of corporations including major listed ASX corporations. John's principal area of expertise is in commercial property and commercial agreements. John is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia and for many years was a member of the Law Society Committee which deals with drafting of the General Conditions for Sale of Land in Western Australia. He is a former Chairperson of the Legal Practice Board. John prepared the original General Conditions for the Sale of Land in WA which is the basis of the current 2018 General Conditions for the Sale of Land.
Jolene Ashworth
Jolene Ashworth is the Principal Solicitor of Philipoff Legal. Established in January 2015, Philipoff Legal is the brainchild of Vicki Philipoff of Vicki Philipoff Settlements to enhance the client service capabilities of Vicki Philipoff Settlements by providing their clients with accessible legal services. Graduating from the University of Western Australian in 2005, Jolene was admitted in February 2007 to the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Jolene has practice predominately in generalist firms since her admission in 2007 but have been involved in predominately Property, Commercial and Estate Planning work and has garnered experience in Contract, Land, Trusts, Superannuation, Leases, Wills, Administration of Deceased Estates, Sale of Real Estate and Settlements, Settlement of Real Estate and Business, Retail Centre and Commercial Leasing. In addition to English, Jolene speaks Mandarin and is also fluent in Hokkien.
Peter Beekink
Peter Beekink is an internationally recognised lawyer practising in property law in Australia. Peter has represented the state of Western Australia and a number of its departments in significant land development projects in Western Australia. Peter has also acted on significant land projects (both built form and vacant land) for private sector clients, some of these projects have been the largest transactions of their type in Western Australia. Peter often acts for offshore clients buying and selling significant real estate assets in Western Australia and has provided innovative solutions and structuring to effect land acquisitions and developments in Western Australia. These solutions have delivered significant wealth benefits to his clients. Peter has also advised on some of the largest agribusiness transactions in Western Australia. Peter acts for a number of landlords with respect to their leasing requirements in Western Australia. This covers retail, industrial and commercial leasing. Peter is the Western Australian editor of Thomson Reuters Retail Leasing in Australia. He is also on the editorial panel for the Australian Property Law Bulletin, his articles on real estate law are published throughout Australia. Peter regularly speaks to industry forums including events by the Property Council of Australia. He is in demand as a speaker on real estate law in Western Australia.
Shagun Thakur
Shagun is Partner based in Perth with over 14 years of experience in providing GST advice in the areas of property, financial supplies and oil & gas. Shagun's specialty lies in the Property and Government sectors having spent the bulk of his career advising the firm's large and diverse group of Property clients. More specifically, Shagun has been involved in large scale reviews and consulting projects for a number of local and state government entities. Having assisted in numerous large audits, Shagun has also developed a good relationship with a number of senior ATO auditors and directors.
