Ian McKnight
Ian McKnight is a Practice Group leader and widely regarded as a doyen of strata law in New South Wales. His standing has been earned over the course of a 43 year career bestriding property law and strata management. Unique amongst property lawyers, Ian is a genuine specialist. Strata and community title law is not a part time pursuit, it forms the core of his day-to-day legal practice. He brings firsthand experience of the strata challenges to his advice from his time as a director of a corporate strata management firm.
Greg Sirtes SC
Gregory Sirtes practices on the 12th Floor of Wentworth & Selborne Chambers. He was called to the Bar in 1992 having practiced before then as a solicitor for 2 years. His main areas of practice are real property, construction, commercial/equity, insurance, wills & probate and professional negligence. He has been listed in Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Construction Counsel (2018, 2019, 2020) and Leading Commercial Litigation Counsel (2017). He has been a member of the Navy Reserve since 2009 and was appointed in 2018 as a Judge Advocate/Defence Force Magistrate of the Australian Defence Force.
Rani Gandha
Rani Gandha is the Partner in charge of the Business, Commercial and Property team at Turnbull Hill Lawyers. She acts in a wide range of property work, including acting for buyers and sellers of residential and commercial property and for lenders and borrowers in respect of residential mortgage matters. She has extensive expertise in dealing with all types of real property, including Old System, Torrens Title, Qualified Title and Strata Title. Rani also acts for clients in respect of resumptions of property by Transport for NSW, creating easements by way of Transfer and acts for land developers in respect of subdivisions. She advises clients on commercial and retail property leasing matters including negotiation and preparation of leasing documents and assists clients in a wide range of business issues. Dedicated to ensuring her clients’ interests are adequately protected, Rani users her experience to understand their goals and objectives and gives them realistic and practical advice. Jim Johnson
Jim Johnson was admitted to the Bar in August 1991 having practised as a solicitor since 1975. He is currently also a casual lecturer at UTS in the insolvency elective. Jim has lectured extensively in relation to insolvency topics over the last 20 years including interrelationship and crossover between deceased Estates and bankruptcy and family law and bankruptcy. Whilst his practice is generally regarded as personal and corporate insolvency that brings into play most areas of general commercial securities and conveyancing practice.
Vincci Chan
Vincci Chan was called to the bar in 2020 and has a broad commercial practice covering contract disputes, corporations law (including insolvency) and equity. Prior to her bar admission, she gained extensive experience as a dispute resolution lawyer at various Australian law firms, including as a Senior Associate at Freehills. A significant proportion of the matters on which she has worked have involved clients in the resources (mining, oil, and gas) and banking (including insolvency) sectors. Vincci has also worked abroad in Houston, Texas, USA and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, gaining further exposure to the resources industry, and skills in contract drafting and negotiations.
Robyn Druitt
Robyn Druitt is a barrister at Lachlan Macquarie Chambers. She was admitted to the bar on 4 February 1991. Prior to this Robyn practiced as a solicitor from 1977-1991 in country New South Wales then suburban Sydney. Robyn's bar practice is now mainly in the area of Family Law, where she has a particular interest in advocacy in Family Law and sexual abuse. Robyn has extensive experience in the Children's Court (including Children of God litigation) and Common Law Claims against DOCS and NSW Department of Education (for the Crown in indigenous and non indigenous claims by wards as to abuse in care and sexually abused pupils in public schools).
Anthea Kennedy
Anthea has been in practice as a solicitor since 1992. She has presented seminars and workshops in the areas of Wills and Estates law from 2002 onwards. Her work is mainly litigation, a high proportion of which is contested Probate, Family Provision cases and other Equity work together with estate planning advice. Anthea is an accredited specialist in Wills and Estates Law and the Chair of the Advisory Committee for Specialist Accreditation in Wills and Estates. She is also a member of the Supreme Court Equity Liaison Group. Anthea is listed in the Doyle’s Guide of Leading Wills & Estates Litigation Lawyers 2021 as Preeminent in Australia and Market Leader in NSW. She is also listed as Pre-eminent in Leading Wills, Estates & Succession Planning Lawyers, NSW in 2021.
Elizabeth Devine
Elizabeth Devine is a specialist in employment law and conflict management. Elizabeth is the Founder of Devine Law at Work, a law firm and consultancy which specialises in employment law, workplace relations and conflict management. In this role she provides a range of services to private and public sector employers. Elizabeth’s qualifications include a Masters of Dispute Resolution, a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts. She has been practicing law for 28 years and has specialised in all aspects of Australian employment law, workplace relations and conflict management for 23 years.
Christopher Freeman
Christopher Freeman has an equity and commercial dispute practice and has appeared in the Federal Court of Australia and the Equity Division of the Supreme Court of New South Wales for over 25 years. He has also appeared as an advocate in numerous international arbitrations at SIAC and HKIAC. He has given expert evidence on Australian contract law in Courts in Singapore, Thailand and Japan. He is an NMAS accredited mediator.
Jose de Ponte
José de Ponte is a projects and infrastructure lawyer with extensive experience advising on large, high profile infrastructure projects, including major Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects around the globe with a focus on the APAC region and Africa. He has advised on over 50 projects for governments, sponsors, contractors and financiers covering an array of sectors including, transport (toll roads, airports, railways and harbours), social infrastructure (hospitals, schools, prisons and social housing), mining, power (including renewables) and water treatment.
Joydeep Hor
Joydeep Hor is People + Culture Strategies Founder and Managing Principal. He is one of Australia's most well-known workplace relations lawyers due to his high media profile (both as a sought-after media commentator and prolific keynote speaker including appearing regularly on shows such as Sunrise and on Sky Business Channel) and his representation of several high profile clients throughout his career. While an expert in all areas of workplace relations, Joydeep is one of Australia's "go to" lawyers for complex and sensitive terminations of employment and also for addressing all aspects of workplace behaviour and culture (such as bullying and harassment).
Elizabeth Rusiti
Elizabeth Rusiti was a solicitor for 20 years before coming to the Bar. During the first half of her career, she worked for a mid-tier Sydney firm in commercial litigation, specialising in admiralty, shipping and international trade disputes. Subsequently, Elizabeth gained considerable experience at boutique family law firms, developing a reputation as a senior practitioner in that field, representing clients in all aspects of family law disputes. Her focus in family law matters is on assisting clients to resolve their disputes, wherever possible. After a break from legal practice, Elizabeth came to the Bar in 2020.
David Ash
David Ash is a mediator, arbitrator and barrister practising from Frederick Jordan Chambers in Sydney. Admitted as a barrister in NSW in 1998, David has maintained a broad civil practice. He has regularly advised and appeared in state and federal Courts and statutory tribunals including courts of appeal and the High Court of Australia. He is a part-time general member of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. David is approved by BarADR as an arbitrator and as a mediator. John Snelgrove
John is a Principal of Snelgrove Herman Lawyers, Sydney, an Accredited Specialist in Business Law, and a Notary Public. He has 40 years’ experience advising a diverse client base of Australian and overseas clients with varied property, commercial and corporate interests. He is a director of client and other companies and has practical commercial experience. Mary Rebehy
Mary Rebehy is a Barrister in Sydney who practises in a range of jurisdictions including administrative law, family law, and workplace facilitation. Mary is an accredited mediator and family dispute resolution practitioner. She has been a member of the Legal Aid Commission dispute resolution panel since 2000 and regularly chairs the court ordered mediations at the Parramatta, Family Court. Mary was previously the Manager of Executive and Ministerial Services at Office of State Revenue, and Director of Legal Management Services for the Department of Justice and Attorney General where she coordinated the Legal Services Review with NSW Treasury. Mary was appointed as a conference registrar at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal from 2006 to 2009 and currently serves on the Tribunal panel of early dispute resolution practitioners.
