Stephen Williams
Stephen is Kott Gunning’s Managing Partner and a Partner in the firm’s Insurance team. Since 1987 he has practiced almost exclusively in insurance law. His practice covers a range of insurance related matters, acting almost exclusively for defendants (insurers and employers), principally in the workers’ compensation, employers’ indemnity and public liability areas. Stephen also has an asbestos litigation practice and now is advising on silicosis claims arising out of the artificial stone industry. Stephen has served on the national board of AILA, eventually becoming national vice president. He was made a life member of AILA in 2019.
Neil Morrissey
Neil Morrissey is a barrister at Albert Wolff Chambers. He was admitted as a practitioner in 2010 and joined the independent bar in February 2014. Neil's practice is predominantly in the area of civil litigation with a focus on personal injuries cases. Prior to joining the bar he was a solicitor at Bradford & Co. Neil was junior to Andrew Morrison QC in New South Wales v DC [2017] HCA 22 and was counsel for the successful worker in Engine Protection Equipment Pty Ltd v Miller [2018] WASCA 55. Neil is a member of the RSPCA's pro bono legal panel.
Luke Westell
Luke had15 years’ industry experience in workers' compensation. He is a committee member for the WorkCover WA Dispute Services Users Group on behalf of licensed insurers. Luke leads a team of technical and specialist claims staff. He is involved in developing and implementing an industry leading role to manage mental health claims. He leads onshore shared service operations for active states and is involved in improving business efficiencies in claims management.
Martin Dobson
Martin Dobson was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in 1980. He is a partner at Moray & Agnew and has worked almost exclusively in litigation since 1981 and after working in a number of areas of practice, including acting for plaintiffs for a number of years, he has acted exclusively for insurers, self-insureds and employers for the last 25 years. He practices chiefly in the areas of workers' compensation and employer's liability (common law) claims but has also worked in the areas of motor vehicle personal injury claims, public liability and medical negligence. Martin is a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association.
