Presenters
Senior Member Suzanne Kirton
Suzanne Kirton has recently been appointed as a Senior Member at VCAT, sitting in the Building & Property, Civil Claims and OC Lists. Prior to her appointment she was a barrister and nationally accredited mediator, and before that, was company solicitor of the Housing Guarantee Fund. She took great pleasure in contributing to the profession by serving on various committees, lecturing and presenting, and mentoring many young practitioners. Between leaving the Bar and starting at VCAT she spent the break in Scandinavia, achieving a long held dream of dog sledding in the arctic and seeing the Northern Lights.
Senior Member Catherine Aird
Cathy retired as a non-sessional member of VCAT on 3 May 2021 and is now a senior sessional member. Cathy has been a tribunal member for over 25 years having been appointed as an inaugural member of the Domestic Building Tribunal in April 1996. She was appointed a deputy president of VCAT in 2004 and retired from full time work in May 2021. During the 17 years as a deputy president Cathy was head of a number of lists: most recently the Building and Property List which was created on 1 July 2014 when the Domestic Building, Retail Tenancies and Real Property Lists were merged.
