Douglas Laidlaw
Douglas is available to appear and advise in a broad range of civil matters. His principal areas of practice include wills and estates, family law and property disputes. He appears routinely in trials and mediations. Douglas has a strong connection with Regional people and issues. Douglas also serves as a senior officer in the Australian Army with a career as an Infantry officer. His service has included numerous domestic and regional operations, together with command, instructional and staff officer postings. In the 2006 Australia Day Honours, he was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross (CSC) for service in Malaysia during the 2005 Tsunami. He is presently appointed as the Director General Reserves – Army.
Deborah Wiener
Deborah graduated from Melbourne University and complted a Masters of Law at Monash. She practices in the area of Family Law in the Federal Circuit and Family Courts in all areas but with an emphasis on children’s matters. She has appeared in many Magellan cases for parties as well as for the ICL. She is a mediator and has also appeared in many intervention orders and stalking cases and has published widely and spoken at conferences in that area. Outside of the Bar she was Chair of the now closed Jewish Taskforce Against Family Violence and has written many articles, spoken at conferences and been on radio in relation to issues of Family Violence.
Tim Graham
Tim is one of Australia's pre-eminent strata lawyers. Tim is the President of the Australian College of Strata Lawyers (ACSL) and a Fellow of the College. He is a Board Member of Strata Communities Australia. Tim has conducted over 280 seminars; he has guest lectured at RMIT, Deakin University and the University of New South Wales. He is published regularly in the Australian Property Law Bulletin and is a member of the bulletin's Editorial Panel. He authors the Owners Corporations chapter of the Lawyers Practice Manual and wrote the case study update for Subdivisions with the Lot.
Shane Newton
Shane was called to the Bar in 1980. He is a Member of the Supreme Court of Victoria Probate Users Committee. Shane is author of 'Protecting a Will' Federation Press, published in 1991 and which deals with the law relating to claims under Part IV of the Administration and Probate Act 1958 (and its analogues in other jurisdictions) as well as other will related topics. He practices exclusively in the Trusts Equity and Probate jurisdiction (including claims under Part IV of the Act) and has done so for more than 30 years and has appeared in a number of significant cases in the jurisdiction.
Ric Birkett
Ric is a principal in the Commercial and Property Section of Aitken Partners and has been in practice for over 20 years. His practice covers a broad range of commercial and property work including particular involvement in the aged care and retirement living industry. His work includes advising a range of clients in respect of compliance, structuring and commercial and property transactions including mergers and the purchase and sale of businesses and business interests.
Allan Swan
Allan works with private clients and their accountants, financial advisors and legal practitioners relating to the legal aspects of the following areas of Preventative Law, namely: Asset Protection; Deceased Estate Taxation; Dispute Prevention; Estate Planning; Preventative Law Strategy; Special Disability & Protective Trusts; Structuring; Superannuation; Tax Considerations; Testamentary & Family Trusts.
Chris Molnar
Chris is a workplace relations partner at Kennedys. He has practised in the area of workplace relations for over 25 years. He has extensive experience and knowledge in industrial relations, employment law, occupational health and safety, and discrimination. Chris is accredited as a specialist in Workplace Relations by the Law Institute of Victoria. He was the recipient of the prestigious President’s Award in 2009 from the Law Institute of Victoria for his contribution to the specialisation scheme.
Dr Eva Tsahuridu
Eva Tsahuridu (BBus, MBA, PhD) is a business ethicist who has been researching, educating and consulting on business and professional ethics for over two decades. Eva has previously worked in the public, private and not for profit sectors and held executive roles in Australian and European universities. She is the section editor of Practice in Business Ethics of the Journal of Business Ethics, an executive editor of Philosophy of Management, the deputy chair of the Australasian Business Ethics Network, the co-chair of the Professionalism and Ethics Committee of the Australian Council of Professions.
Ralph Greenberger
Mr Greenberger is a Barrister and Nationally Accredited Mediator. He has a wide practice in all aspects of commercial litigation, construction disputes, joint venture/partnership/oppression disputes, sale of business disputes property law, Retail Leases, trusts, corporations, securities, insolvency, wills, probate and TFM litigation. Mr Greenberger appears in the Supreme Court, Federal Courts, County Court, VCAT and in commercial arbitrations. Mr Greenberger is a Nationally Accredited Mediator under the Australian National Mediator Accreditation System. He has practised as a mediator for more than 20 years. He trained with The Accord Group, and obtained a Certificate of Commercial Mediation.
Kerry Awerbuch
Kerry is a Partner in the Intellectual Property & Technology Team. She holds undergraduate degrees in Arts and Law, as well as a Master of Laws with a specialisation in intellectual property. Kerry has broad litigation and advisory experience, working with clients across a range of industries including fashion, FMCG, consumer electronics, engineering, medical devices, education and manufacturing. In particular, Kerry has a strong practice in advising clients across the full range of patent, design, trade mark, copyright and contractual disputes. She also advises clients on strategies for capturing, protecting and driving the value in their intellectual property, including through licensing, commercialisation and collaboration agreements
Angela Lee
Angela practices predominantly in taxation and administrative law. She acts for the taxpayer and for the Commissioner, led and unled, in federal and state taxation matters, including on appeals. She is a nationally accredited mediator. Angela is Chair of the Law Council of Australia's Business Law Section's Victorian Tax Committee. She is also a member of the ATO's Private Groups Stewardship Group and various committees at the Tax Institute, Australian Bar Association and the Victorian Bar's Tax Bar Association. Angela has been recognised as a 'leading' tax barrister in Doyle's Guide and a 'rising star' in Chambers Asia-Pacific Rankings.
Mia Clarebrough
Mia is a barrister at the Victorian Bar practicing in taxation and revenue law, commercial law, administrative law, equity and trusts. Before joining the Bar, Mia spent 10 years in private practice, initially at Deloitte and later at Norton Rose Fulbright where she advised on a broad range of income tax, GST and stamp duty issues. Mia acts for taxpayers and for the Commissioner in State and Federal matters. She provides advice and assists with tax investigations and audits, private rulings, objections, through to litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
John Dunne
John was admitted as a lawyer in Victoria in 1980. He initially worked as a tax and commercial lawyer following articles, gradually moving into litigation from 1980 to 1982 at John Wilder-Darren Moses. In 1983 John commenced practice as an employee then partner with Phillip Biber acting for a large mercantile agency in Victoria & NSW performing all types of civil litigation with an emphasis on insolvency work and with a significant appearance load as Counsel in the Magistrates Court, County Court, Supreme and Federal courts in Bankruptcy & Winding up matters.
David Robertson QC
Admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria on 1 April, 1981. Employed by Corr & Corr as a Solicitor and then as an Associate and then Senior Associate from 1981 to 1985 working mainly in Banking, Finance and Commercial Litigation. Signed the Roll of Counsel of the Victorian Bar on 23 May, 1985. Practises mainly in Commercial Law, including Banking, Finance, Securities, Consumer Credit, Trusts and Superannuation and also Constitutional Law, Equity, Company Law, Administrative Law and Professional Negligence. Member of the Human Research Ethics Committee of the Royal Children’s Hospital. Senior Honorary Fellow and Part-Time Lecturer in Finance Law, University of Melbourne.
