Presenters
Lydia Kinda
Lydia has practised at the Victorian Bar since 2004 mainly in commercial disputes, insolvency and wills & estates with a strong interest in equity. While Lydia enjoys the challenge of preparing a case for litigation, accredited as a mediator in 2004 and nationally accredited in 2008 she also aims to facilitate non-litigious outcomes wherever possible.
In addition to her legal skills, Lydia previously managed a range of businesses resulting in a high level of financial literacy – which has proven to be vital to managing the sometimes erratic nature of Bar Practice and in her role as a director of a not-for profit board managing a retirement facility.
Therese Borger
Therese accepts briefs to appear (as counselor in her capacity as a Nationally Accredited Mediator) in, and advise on, matters involving all aspects of family law and related jurisdictions. Recognised in 2018 and 2019 by Doyles Guide to the Australian Legal Profession as a Rising Star in family law, and previously in 2018 named by Lawyers Weekly as one of the top 30 lawyers practicing under the age of 30 across Australia in all areas, Therese comes to the Bar with a dedicated focus on her chosen field.
Gabriella Marton
Gabriella Marton started her professional career at the Central Industrial Relations Department of BHP, the predecessor of BHP Billiton. She was employed in senior industrial advocate positions with the Chamber of Commerce of Western Australia, and the Department of Productivity and Labour Relations of Western Australia, in the 1990s. Gabriella worked in the employment and industrial relations practice group of two of Australia's top five law firms. Gabriella has been working as a Senior Workplace Lawyer for the Victoria Automobile Chamber of Commerce over ten years.
Bob Milstein
Bob is a practising lawyer, specialising in health law. His interest in health law — and in particular health care liability litigation — initially sparked his interest in the importance of clear and reader-focused communications. Bob has been running clear writing/plain English training through Words and Beyond for more than 15 years, and in that time has provided a range of training services to law firms, regulators, government, business, insurers, tribunals and researchers.
James Eley
James accepts briefs in the areas of family law and related jurisdictions in all local, regional and interstate Courts. James is a Nationally Accredited Mediator and accepts briefs to act as a mediator. Prior to coming to the Bar, James was a Senior Associate at Gadens Lawyers in Melbourne and before that, an Associate at O’Sullivan Davies Lawyers, a prominent family law firm in Perth. James gained extensive experience in both complex parenting and property settlement matters, including matters concerning international relocation, family violence, sexual abuse allegations, trust and business structures, valuation methodology and jurisdictional issues. James has also conducted matters at appellate level.
