Michael Osborne
After nearly 30 years in private practice Michael has acquired enormous experience across areas of law including company law, trusts, tax, crime, succession planning and estate administration, and litigation. A well known legal drafter, he’s often asked to negotiate and draft complex and unique commercial transactions. Michael’s particular specialty is property development – structuring and documenting the acquisition and sale of the site, and the associated work: joint venture or shareholder agreements, building contracts, development management agreements, financing and security, leasing, advice on stamp duty and GST, and off the plan sales.
Gary Newton
Gary is a partner in the Property and Development Group of HWL Ebsworth Lawyers. He has been practising in the area of property law for over 35 years, providing advice on a wide range of matters to business, government and individuals. Gary holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sydney and is an Accredited Specialist in Property Law, since 1994. He is the co-author of a book published in December 2017 called "Land Acquisition" 7th edition by Gary Newton and Christopher Conolly. Gary is also the co-author of a book "Real Property Law Case Summaries" Newton’s 4th edition and the co-author and the co-editor of the LexisNexis Butterworths NSW Conveyancing Service (loose-leaf).
Ian McKnight
Ian McKnight is a Practice Group leader and widely regarded as a doyen of strata law in New South Wales. His standing has been earned over the course of a 43 year career bestriding property law and strata management. Unique amongst property lawyers, Ian is a genuine specialist. Strata and community title law is not a part time pursuit, it forms the core of his day-to-day legal practice. He brings firsthand experience of the strata challenges to his advice from his time as a director of a corporate strata management firm.
Andrew Rider
Andrew is a leading Australian tax barrister specialising in land tax, payroll tax and stamp duty litigation and dispute resolution. Andrew also advises on Australia-wide stamp duties, land tax and payroll tax. Prior to coming to the Bar, Andrew was a solicitor and Associate to Justice Michael Kirby. Andrew lectures in taxation law at the University of Sydney Law School and previously lectured at the University of Technology, Sydney. Andrew edits the leading stamp duty publication “Australian Stamp Duties Law” and authors the national stamp duty section of the leading online service “Practical Guidance – Property Law”.
Brooke Glastonbury
Brooke is a Principal lawyer in the Property and Construction team at Macpherson Kelley. Brooke understands in property a lawyer can make or break a deal and her focus is on being the lawyer who makes it. Over 20 years’ experience and a keen interest in property herself, Brooke sees all sides of a deal and can quickly gauge what risks are worth considering as well as what a vendor may push back on. If one of her clients has a site they are interested in buying, Brooke is able to consider the client’s business needs, assess the risks involved in the property transaction and align the two to achieve the outcomes the client needs.
Lexia Wilson
Lexia is a real estate lawyer based in Sydney. She has expertise in real estate, climate change, stamp duty, GST and real estate finance. Lexia acts for both Australian and international participants in the real estate sector, advising on a wide range of commercial, residential, industrial and retail transactions including sales, acquisitions, developments, joint ventures, leasing and real estate investment trusts. She is a former national director of the Property Council of Australia, the industry's peak association and a current member of the Property Council's NSW Industrial Committee. She is very active in industry education and regularly lectures on a variety of real estate topics for property associations and clients
Rani Gandha
Over the last 14 years Rani has helped hundreds of clients achieve excellent results in their matters. She is a Partner of the Turnbull Hill and leads the Property and Business team. With her background in asset protection and structuring she uses those skills to practice in their exceptional wills and estate team.
Paul Denny
Paul has had a wealth of experience in the conveyancing world, starting his career in Adelaide in 1978. He established himself as one of the most trusted conveyancers in South Australia, quickly building up a high reputation with real estate agents and clients alike. It wasn’t until 1993 that conveyancing was recognised as a profession in NSW – until then, only solicitors were permitted to engage in property transactions. Seeing the opportunity, Paul decided to relocate his business to Sydney and became the very first licensed conveyancer in NSW. Paul opened his first office in Lane Cove, and over the last 20 years he has continued to build Paul Denny Conveyancing.
Chris Stomo
Chris is a barrister working out of Windeyer Chambers in Sydney. He started a career as a microbiologist but found his calling in law and has been a lawyer for the last 30 years, with the last 25 years at the New South Wales bar in Sydney. Most of his work is now in commercial, property, construction intellectual property, estates and company matters. Chris is a qualified mediator and this brings on a number of challengers in trying to find a solution to what looks at first insoluble. Every problem has a solution.
