Jason Lazarus SC
Jason was appointed Senior Counsel in 2019, having been called to the Bar in 2004, after spending a year as the associate to the Hon Justice John Lehane of the Federal Court, and then practising as a solicitor for 5 years in a leading law firm. . Although Jason practises predominantly in the Land and Environment and Supreme Courts (and the Court of Appeal in appellate matters), he is experienced in a wide range of jurisdictions and areas of law, ranging from general commercial litigation and equity to planning and environmental law and public / administrative law. He has been recognised as a leader in the field of planning and environmental law, ranked as a “Leading” senior counsel in the most recent issue of Doyle’s Guide“Leading Planning & Environment Barristers – NSW”.
Mark Bonanno
Mark Bonanno is an Accredited Specialist in Property Law who has almost a quarter of a century of experience. His practice concentrates mainly on planning and development. Mark has acted for developers in high rise residential developments from acquisition to sale, including Land & Environment Court litigation to support proponents. He has also acted for several banks undertaking mortgage certification work for Bendigo & Adelaide Bank, Mortgage One and other lenders. Mark has also appeared for several NSW Councils in Class 1, 2, and 4 matters, and undertaken Class 5 prosecutions. Currently Mark is a Senior Lawyer at City of Canterbury Bankstown.
Oliver Berkmann
Oliver was admitted as a solicitor in 2005 and was called to the Bar in 2019. Prior to coming to the Bar, Oliver was at Revenue NSW (formerly Office of State Revenue), where he held a number of senior leadership and technical roles. As Counsel Oliver has appeared in revenue and taxation matters and advises regularly on complex revenue and taxation transactions in the field of land tax, stamp duty and payroll tax including private rulings and objections. Oliver has appeared in all jurisdictions and has presented at Legalwise seminars, the Taxation Institute of Australia’s Annual State Tax Conference and at the College of Law and UTS to law students on revenue topics.
Jane Crittenden
Jane is a sole practitioner. Jane has practised as a litigation lawyer since her admission as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 29 June 1990. Her experience as a litigation and dispute resolution lawyer has been gained in large city firms and small specialised practices and has included professional indemnity and product liability law, commercial litigation and strata title law. Jane is a member of the Property Law Committee of the Law Society of New South Wales.
Leisha de Aboitiz
Leisha de Aboitiz is experienced in various aspects of property law, including sales and acquisitions, leasing, property development, and specialist property-related advice. Leisha has a strong background and particular specialisation in complex titling and strata law, including strata renewal and collective sales, strata management and compliance and stratum subdivision. Leisha sits on the Board of Directors for the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales and is also an active member of the REI NSW Strata Chapter Committee. Leisha was listed in the Doyle’s Guide “Leading Property & Real Estate Lawyers – NSW” for 2018, 2019 and 2020 and “Leading Leasing Lawyers – NSW” for 2020.
Tom Davie
Tom is one of Sydney’s most experienced and respected construction law barristers. He is the author of the Annotated Home Building Act and a co-author of Understanding Construction Law. He regards building and construction law as a branch of commercial law. Before coming to the bar in 1998 Tom practiced as a solicitor and partner involved in building and construction, commercial, and planning law at major legal practices across three jurisdictions.
Jonathan Caplan
Jonathan is the lead partner of Arnold Bloch Leibler’s Sydney property & development practice. His areas of expertise include commercial property law, business law and structuring of property ventures. Jonathan regularly advises large private client groups and high-net-worth individuals on a range of property related and business law matters.
Sydney Jacobs
Sydney is a barrister at 13th Wentworth Chambers. He is also an accredited Mediator and Arbitrator. Sydney read for his LL.M at Cambridge University, England. He has a general commercial equity practice including partnership disputes, property litigation (e.g. easements, leasing matters, contracts for the sale of land off the plan, relief against forfeiture of deposits) and building & construction disputes. He is the sole author of two major loose-leaf services, namely: Damages in a Commercial Context, and Injunctions: Law and Practice, both published by Thomson Reuters. He part authors the leading work, Commercial & International Arbitration, likewise published by Thomson Reuters.
Christopher Conolly
Christopher is a partner in at HWL Ebsworth and has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial property law including corporate sales and acquisitions, leases and agreements for lease, project development agreements, subdivisions and options. He also has significant experience in providing advice in leasehold transactions, contaminated land, compulsory acquisitions, native title, community title developments, public positive covenants and planning agreements. His clients include government departments and authorities, aged care providers, urban and regional developers and corporations. Christopher is an accredited specialist in property law. He is the author of the 'Options' section of Practical Legal Guidance by LexisNexis and, with Gary Newton, "Land Acquisitions" 7th Edition 2017.
Chris Stomo
Chris is a barrister working out of Windeyer Chambers in Sydney. He started a career as a microbiologist but found his calling in law and has been a lawyer for the last 30 years, with the last 25 years at the New South Wales bar in Sydney. Most of his work is now in commercial, property, construction intellectual property, estates and company matters. Chris is a qualified mediator and this brings on a number of challengers in trying to find a solution to what looks at first insoluble. Every problem has a solution.
Dean Claughton
Dean is a Principal Lawyer at Coleman Greig and heads up the firm’s Property Team at the Norwest and Campbelltown-Macarthur offices. Dean has significant experience and expertise in all aspects of industrial, commercial and retail leasing, acting for landlords in relation to drafting leases, consenting to assignments and negotiating surrenders of leases. Dean also heads up the firms commercial and residential conveyancing department, where he acts for both vendors and purchasers in helping them buy and sell property across NSW.
Eli Gescheit
Director of Navon Solutions, is a sought after speaker on urban planning in NSW. He believes in sharing his wealth of knowledge having worked in both Councils and urban planning consultancies. Eli has presented to numerous groups over the past 5 years including architects, interior designers, landscape architects, property developers and mum and dad investors.
