Terri has advised some of the world’s largest multinational companies on Australia’s most complex transport industry matters. She is the Australian founding member and past Vice President of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Associations, and past Chairperson of the NSW Branch of the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (MLAANZ).
Dr Pat Saraceni, Director, Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Clifford Chance
Dr Saraceni acts for multinational and local companies in sectors including energy and resources (oil, gas and power), mining, logistics and transport (particularly shipping), insurance (including P&I cover), banking and corporate. She is the Vice President of the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (MLAANZ) and chairs the Western Australian branch. She sits on a number of professional committees and has a Doctorate of Juridical Science in Shipping Law from the University of Western Australia. Pat has lectured in constitutional law and shipping at the University of Notre Dame and tutors civil procedure at the UWA.
Richard Donaldson, General Counsel, Pilbara Ports Authority
Richard manages the legal function and is responsible for the provision of all legal services to PPA. Most recently, as Senior Legal Counsel to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), he supported the company's business in Western Australia across all industry sectors. Prior to moving into an in-house legal role with CSC, Richard spent several years in private practice with leading global law firms (Ashurst and Jones Day). Before entering private practice, Richard worked for the Australian Government, where he developed policy and legislation and advised on parliamentary and administrative law issues, including compliance with multi-lateral treaties.
Capt Clive Sheard, Senior Marine Consultant, London Offshore Consultants Australia
Clive has 42 years of marine experience with a wide range of “hands on” and management experience in providing assurance and consultancy services to the off-shore, port, marine insurance and marine law industries. His experience was gained in marine operations and management roles, after having served at sea on a range of vessels including the military navy as an Executive Lieutenant. Clive is an accredited Society of Marine Warranty Surveyors (SOMWS) inspector, experienced port tug master, drydock master, qualified marine pilot, Harbour Master and an International Standard for Pilot Organizations (ISPO) and OVID surveyor.
Hazel Brewer, Partner, HFW Australia
Hazel specialises in shipping, offshore and international trade matters. Her offshore practice includes contract advisory work and handling contentious matters arising under rig, drilling unit and offshore support vessel and services contracts, including anchor handling, seismic, drilling and geotechnical contracts. Hazel also advises on a broad range of issues arising under charter parties, contracts of affreightment, transhipment contracts, bills of lading and on carriage issues relating to petroleum products, iron ore and minerals, and soft cargoes including sugar, rice and grains. Hazel also has extensive experience in advising on commodity sale and purchase contracts, including iron ore, minerals, petrochemicals and soft commodities.
