In recent years significant amounts of compensation have been ordered in sexual harassment cases against employers and individuals, and it’s certainly a hot topic in the legal profession following the inquiry of former High Court Justice Dyson Heydon and similar recent events.
It’s extremely important that legal advisors meet their legal, professional and ethical obligations by keeping abreast of these developments to prevent or manage the risks of sexual harassment in the workplace through policy, sound employment practices, and a genuine understanding of the complexities involved when managing a complaint. This session examines:

Belinda Winter
Belinda is a partner in the workplace relations and safety team of Cooper Grace Ward specialising in employment, industrial relations, discrimination and safety law. Her work includes advising employers on policies and procedures to create strong cultures and safe workplaces. Where allegations of misconduct arise, including claims of discrimination, bullying or harassment, Belinda advises employers on their response to these claims and any disciplinary action required.
Dr Adrian McCullagh
Adrian has degrees in Computer Science and Law as well as a Ph.D. in IT Security. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Information Security Research Centre at the Queensland University of Technology. He has been practicing in IT law for more than 30 years being one of the pioneer IT lawyers within Australia. He is a member of the Queensland Law Society and a member of the American Bar Association and participate in the Information Security Forum. In 1999 he was the QUT Faculty of Information Technology Alumnus of the year.
Rick Cullen
Rick assists clients in the areas of Commercial Litigation / Dispute Resolution and Family Law. During his 40 year legal career Rick has successfully run a very broad commercial litigation and dispute resolution practice. He has acted for numerous corporate, government and individual clients, and has significant trial experience in all WA courts and tribunals. He is an experienced mediator.
