Melissa has been a litigation lawyer for over 20 years and has extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution, in professional indemnity and general liability claims acting for insurers and professionals in a variety of different fields. Melissa has experience in defending both large scale litigation and small claim matters, acting for an array of professionals, including architects, engineers, surveyors, valuers, barristers and solicitors, financial advisers, auditors and accountants, as well as general liability claims against builders, contractors, retailers and occupiers of commercial premises. Melissa advises insurers in respect of policy interpretation issues and has acted for major insurers in coverage disputes involving directors and officers and other professionals. Melissa has been recognised in The Best Lawyers in Australia for insurance law every year since 2016 and was identified as a leading Personal Injury Litigation lawyer in 2020 and 2021. In 2019 Melissa was recognised in Doyle's Guide as a Leading Professional Indemnity Lawyer (Defendant Insurance) in NSW. In 2017 Melissa won the Partner of the Year Award at the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards.
Christopher Harrison, Senior Associate, Colin Biggers & Paisley
Christopher has experience in general liability, personal injury claims, disciplinary proceedings and medical negligence claims, workers' compensation, CTP damages, TPD benefit, income protection policy claims and claims arising from aviation disasters. His experience includes running a significant defendant common law practice involving litigated and unlitigated personal injury claims and was involved in the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. More recently Christopher has acted for respondent airlines in individual and representative (class) proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia and various state Supreme Courts in respect of claims from two major international aviation disasters. Christopher has previously acted for a member of the Australian judiciary in respect of proceedings commenced by the Judicial Commission of New South Wales.
